Welcome to the Gallery of the Imagination
Elsewhere is now somewhere you can visit.
Studio 13. Ground Floor. Market House. St Austell.
Market House, a large Grade II* listed building in central St Austell, Cornwall, stands beside the church on the original market site. Rebuilt in the 1830s to handle the town’s growing trade and clay industry, it was constructed on a steep hill with three levels: livestock entered at ground level and produce was brought in at the upper floor via Market Hill. Initially roofless and exposed to the weather, a large roof was soon added. Today the livestock are gone; instead the granite alcoves now house 18 studios, As well as the New Elsewhere Gallery, on the ground floor: There’s a Community Gallery, a picture framing studio with framed photos for sale. Also a pottery studio and shop, with Cornwalls best Comic store next door. On the floors above: a Warhammer and Game hub, a Pottery centre running workshops. Alongside those, a Guitar tutor and a Drumming teacher.
The Gallery is showing 50 years of my work — from the earliest journals though to the two published books and their illustrations, all for sale or to commission. In the Gallery there are also drawings and sculptures from 1977 to the most recent illustrations and pieces made during my four-times-a-week LIVE sessions on Patreon and TiKToK. I’m now making tiny porcelain faerie houses that catch people’s attention; they stop, come in and say, “It’s like a whole world.” It’s an emporium — people feel childlike, fall silent, open my journals, watch sculptures on turntables and then ask~
“You’ve been doing this for fifty years?”
It’s wonderful to share the whole of The Realms of Elsewhere.
